Installation Guide Xentry 09.2014
Partitions - Minimum Sizes
| Drive | Minimum Size | Note |
| C: | 20 GB | System partition |
| D: | 5 GB | |
| E: | 40-60 GB | |
| F: | 35 GB | |
| G: | CD/DVD drive | Optional, can be a different drive letter |
Important: If SD, WIS, EPC and SD Media are to be installed, the hard drive
must be at least 120 GB.
- If the drive is larger, DO NOT assign more than 120 GB - otherwise there
will be problems with the partition check.
- The remaining space above 120 GB should remain UNASSIGNED and only be
assigned to the partitions AFTER installation.
Note on DVD images: I generally work with DVD images and mount them using
Alcohol 52% (freeware).
Set the Windows system time slightly after the release date, e.g. December 1st, 2014
Changing drive letters:
Start -> My Computer (Right-click) -> Manage -> Disk Management
FRESH INSTALLATION (no old version present)
-----------------------------------------------
1. Install Windows XP SP3
2. Run newguid2j -> Prepare.bat
3. Check whether Compact4 is entered in the registry.
If not -> enter it.
4. Obtain APP ID 253:
Copy Vboxservice.exe to the startup folder and double-click to start it.
5. Run the 5011 Fix.
If necessary, set the registry permissions to Full Control for Everyone.
(I always do this for the root key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE)
6. Do NOT enter the DAS and XENTRY keys yet - they will be requested during
installation.
Normally the StartKeyCenter starts automatically. Sometimes this does not
work.
-> Then confirm the message 3 times, the installation will be aborted.
-> Starutilities is located on the desktop - start it and enter the
Xentry Key.
-> Then restart the setup.
7. Simply double-click gerd123 to run it - it only flickers briefly.
Nothing else is visible.
8. Insert DVD1.
Path: DVD -> stardiag -> setup.exe
The computer may restart -> then run setup.exe again!
Also run gerd123 again.
DO NOT RESTART NOW!
9. Run "after installation.bat".
Click End -> the computer restarts.
10. Insert DVD2 and run setup.exe from stardiag again!
If the installation does NOT run error-free to the end, Xentry will NOT
be installed.
-> Then simply restart the setup from the 2nd DVD again.
11. DO NOT CLICK FINISH YET!
In the folder C:\Windows\ZAK\Starshell delete or rename the program
Starshell.exe.
(Only if you want the normal XP interface. Otherwise you do not need to
do this. If you do not do it, the user interface is restricted.)
12. Run "after installation.bat" again.
Click End -> the computer restarts.
13. If the grey screen during startup bothers you:
Deactivate the SUSservice service.
Path: Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services
Then also run the Registry Fix from the SDNC folder.
Note: For a pure update version, processing the 2nd DVD is omitted.
